Why choose our Sixth Form?
Welcome to Holte Sixth Form
At Holte Sixth Form, we want every student to achieve their ambitions and leave us fully prepared for the next stage of their journey. Building on our strong success at Key Stage 4, our Sixth Form offers students the opportunity to continue their studies in a supportive, ambitious and inclusive environment.
We are committed to providing high-quality teaching, excellent pastoral support, and a wide range of opportunities beyond the classroom. Our students are encouraged to develop the knowledge, skills, confidence, and independence they need to succeed at university, in apprenticeships, employment and beyond.
More than just academic success
Sixth Form students are prominent members of the wider Holte community and are expected to be positive role models for younger students. There are many opportunities to develop leadership skills and make a difference to school life.
Our students contribute to whole-school events, support younger students at break and lunchtime, take part in sport and enrichment activities, and provide academic mentoring and translation support. Students can also take on a range of leadership roles, including Head Student, Deputy Head Student, Sixth Form Ambassador, Academic Mentor, and School Council Member.
These opportunities enable students to develop valuable skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, and responsibility while making a positive contribution to our school community.
Supporting every student to succeed
From the moment students join us, we work hard to ensure that they feel welcome, valued, and ready to succeed. Our induction programme, delivered in partnership with Aston University, helps students make a confident transition into Sixth Form.
Students are supported by dedicated form coaches and benefit from a strong programme of pastoral care and personal development. Wherever possible, students remain with the same form coach throughout their two years, allowing positive and trusting relationships to develop.
To support independent learning and prepare students for higher education and the modern workplace, every student is provided with a laptop on joining the Sixth Form. This enables access to digital learning resources, independent research, coursework, and online learning platforms, helping students develop the organisational and study skills required for success beyond Sixth Form.
We closely monitor attendance, punctuality, and academic progress, working with students and families to identify any barriers to success and provide support where it is needed.
Our Personal Development Programme provides students with the knowledge, skills and experiences needed to thrive both in school and beyond. It encompasses PSHE, Citizenship, Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural (SMSC) education, career education, higher and further education pathways, apprenticeships, employment, training, relationships, wellbeing and personal growth.
Alongside our taught curriculum, students participate in a regular programme of interactive workshops that replace traditional assemblies. These sessions are delivered by senior leaders, peers, external speakers, and partner organisations, providing students with expert guidance, diverse perspectives, and real-world experiences. Through this programme, we ensure that every student is supported, informed, and inspired to be successful, develop their character, and make positive contributions to society.
Preparing for the future
We are committed to ensuring that every student receives the guidance and support they need to make informed decisions about their future.
Students receive advice about a wide range of pathways, including university, apprenticeships, employment, and further education. We also provide additional support for students who are considering highly competitive pathways, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary science and applications to the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
Our aim is simple: to help every student identify their ambitions, overcome barriers and take the next step with confidence.
Each year, a large proportion of our Year 13 students’ progress to the university, apprenticeship or career pathway of their choice. We are proud of their achievements and of the contribution they make to Holte during their time with us.
Your future starts here
