Applying to University 

Progression to higher education is a key part of the Holte Sixth Form experience. We provide comprehensive support throughout the university application process, helping students make informed choices about courses, institutions, and future career pathways. 

From Year 12 onwards, students benefit from a structured programme of university preparation, including research into degree courses, personal statement guidance, university visits, admissions advice, interview preparation and support with student finance. We also work closely with leading universities and widening participation programmes to ensure students have access to the best opportunities available. 

UCAS Applications 

Applications to UK universities are made through UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service), the organisation responsible for managing applications to higher education courses across the UK. 

Our experienced Sixth Form team guides students through every stage of the UCAS process, including: 

  • Choosing suitable courses and universities 
  • Completing the UCAS application 
  • Writing a strong personal statement 
  • Securing academic references 
  • Meeting key application deadlines 
  • Preparing for interviews and admissions tests where required 
  • Understanding offers and the results day process 

Each year, our students progress to a wide range of universities, including Russell Group institutions and highly competitive courses such as Medicine, Engineering, Law, Computer Science, Psychology and Nursing.

Parents and carers play an important role in supporting students through the university application process. UCAS provides a range of resources specifically designed to help families understand the different stages of applying to higher education.
