Contact a DSL

If you are worried about your child or another pupil, our safeguarding team is here to listen. You do not need to be certain that something is wrong before sharing a concern.

What does a DSL do

DSL stands for Designated Safeguarding Lead. This is the senior member of staff responsible for leading the school’s work to protect children from harm. Mr Oliver is Holte’s DSL, supported by Miss Peterkin as Deputy DSL.

The team listens to concerns, considers what support or action a child needs and works with staff, families and other professionals to help keep them safe. This may involve support within school or help from services outside school. They keep records of concerns and review the support provided.

How to contact the team

During school hours, contact the school reception and ask to speak to Mr Oliver or Miss Peterkin about a safeguarding concern. If neither is immediately available, let reception know that your concern relates to a child’s safety or wellbeing and whether it is urgent.

Pupils can speak to any member of staff they trust. Parents, carers and pupils can also use the school’s Whisper reporting service. Reports can be submitted at any time, but may not be read or answered immediately.
