Summer Learning Guidance for Year 10 and Year 12 Students

The summer break provides an excellent opportunity to consolidate your learning and prepare for the year ahead. We encourage all students to maintain positive study habits by completing any subject-specific tasks, revising key knowledge and skills, and engaging in wider reading related to their courses. Reading books, articles, journals, and reputable online resources can help deepen your understanding, broaden your knowledge, and develop the independence needed for success in examinations and future study.
Beyond academic work, look for opportunities to enrich your learning through podcasts, documentaries, educational visits, work experience, volunteering, or keeping up to date with current affairs. Regular practice of core literacy and numeracy skills will also help you return to school feeling confident and ready to make further progress.
Just as important as academic preparation is looking after your mental wellbeing. Use the summer to establish healthy routines, stay active, spend time with family and friends, pursue hobbies and interests, and take breaks from screens where possible. Maintaining a balance between study, relaxation, and personal wellbeing will help you return refreshed, motivated, and ready to achieve your full potential in the new academic year.
Your teachers have provided a recommended Summer Curriculum with something to watch, listen to and read as well as some other activities to consolidate learning and understanding in all of the subjects that we offer. Try to complete as much as you can over the summer whilst still getting plenty of rest in preparation for a big academic year ahead.
We look forward to welcoming you back in September ready to learn, grow, and achieve your full potential.
