Safeguarding and Governors

The work we do in safeguarding our pupils at Holte is regularly transmitted to the Governing Body. The Safeguarding Governor (Mrs J. Humpherson) is a regular visitor to the school and takes a keen interest in all elements of our work in this field. She has experience of being a Designated Safeguarding Lead in another school so can provide the necessary support and challenge within the school.

The regular meetings between the DSL and the Safeguarding Governor allow us to evidence our work; explain the developments we have made; show how we address national agendas and provide the latest data in terms of Child Protection focus children, Child Protection Plans and other welfare concerns. It also allows a member of the Governing Body to act as a critical friend and question us on our procedures, policies and actions.

The DSL provides annual safeguarding training for the Governing Body to keep them up to date with the latest developments. In addition, the Safeguarding Governor attends external training so they can effectively hold the school to account. The DSL also provides termly reports to the Governing Body so that all Governors have the most up to date information readily available.
