How can I help my child “read for pleasure”?

Here are a few tips to promote reading to your child:

  1. Ensure diversity is central to suggested reading – make it relatable.
  2. Try to ‘set the scene’ for reading – make it an adventure, not a task/chore.
  3. Allow child choice in reading (where at all possible) and allow children to change their mind.
  4. Role model the reading – read aloud with your child, talk about your own reading, challenges you face, things you enjoy etc.
