Careers Education
Holte School is committed to improving the life chances of our students and aims to provide a comprehensive programme of Careers Information and Education Guidance.
CEAIG is a vital part of a successful transition into the world of work. The Careers Education programme at Holte School is guided by the Gatsby ‘Good Career Guidance report which outlines eight benchmarks as indicators of good career guidance. The aim is to ensure that students can make choices with confidence and that they can engage proactively in the decisions they make about their future.
Holte School is dedicated to providing independent careers guidance to all pupils in Years 7 – 13.
Careers Education is delivered through a programme of activities to support pupils in making important decisions about the different education and training choices which are available to them.
To support pupils with making these decisions about their progression, and to investigate different careers, students will take part in a variety of activities and events to help them with this. This might include a visit to a university, a conference or workshop, or a presentation from an employer.
The programme of activities on offer is enhanced by our use of Unifrog. Unifrog is a universal destinations platform which helps pupils explore their interests, compare courses, explore Apprenticeships and Further Education opportunities.

Holte School is part of the Birmingham Careers Hub and works with our Enterprise Coordinator Jordan Rees (Wilmott Dixon), to evaluate our careers provision using the Compass+ Tool. We use Compass+ to help us manage, track and report our Careers programme. There are regular meetings with the Enterprise Co-ordinator, Jackie Plimmer from Birmingham Careers Hub, to monitor, evaluate and review our careers provision.

I currently work for Willmott Dixon Construction as Social Value Manager within the West Midlands. I started as an Administration Apprentice in 2015, and then moved onto their Management Trainee scheme to begin my 4 years’ training with the company. As part of the programme, I gained various skills and knowledge about the Construction Industry, whilst completing my HNC in Construction Management at Birmingham City University. Following the completion of my HNC in 2019, I took a role within the Social Value team and began my degree in Social Sciences with the Open University, which I will be completing in June 2021.
One of the main aspects of my role is to engage with local schools to provide careers support and world of work experience for students, encouraging them to explore different careers pathways and challenging stereotypes. As a woman in Construction, I am very passionate about ensuring that young females are able to use their potential to pursue their chosen career and break down those barriers to have a successful and happy career within the industry.
I am really looking forward to working with Holte School and assist in making a difference for their students.
