Student Leadership

Student Leadership

Developing Student Leadership across Holte School is key, as when pupils are given the opportunity, they can have a profound impact on their schools. We believe that student leadership is one of the central strands of student achievement.

Involvement in leadership activities can improve students’ learning as well as help them to develop the skills and traits needed for success outside of school.

Holte School’s Student Leadership programmes aim to increase the opportunity for Student Leadership across the school and to enhance the input student have with rewards, whole school issues and student well-being.

Holte School’s Student Leadership model aims to be inclusive to ensure that all students have an opportunity to lead.

Student Leadership can help provide pupils with a range of opportunities and help to develop key skills such as communication, both written and verbal, as Student Leaders are involved in a number of different activities such as presentations. Organisational skills are also important in any Student Leadership role and these opportunities will help pupils to develop the skills needed to plan and lead up and coming events that they may be involved in. Prioritisation, listening skills and feedback skills are also amongst those skills that we encourage our pupils to develop.

Below are many of the different opportunities available to Holte School pupils as they progress through the years.

Leadership Roles and Responsibilities encourage our pupils to:

  • Promote academic achievement of all of our students regardless of their ability to increase motivation, resilience and confidence
  • Ensure that all our students have excellent communication skills to allow them to access all areas of school life
  • Make sure every child feels safe and welcome in our school
  • Support students to feel ready and prepared to navigate their way through secondary school and the outside world.

The Year and School Council encourages our pupils to:

  • Liaise with each other and to increase the role of Student Leadership across the school
  • Provide valuable feedback on ‘school life’ including well-being provision, rewards, catering and homework.
  • Support the JLT and Prefects in their role around the school and at any whole school events.

We are always keen to recruit as many students as possible who want to contribute to school life. Look out for student leadership opportunities that will be publicised in assemblies and form time.
